STRENGTHENING THE CANADIAN MULTICULTURAL COMMUNITY! ___________________________________________________________________________ OUR 21ST CENTURY CROSS CULTURAL COMMUNITY LEADERSHIP DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM FOR MORE THAN 50 CULTURAL AND ETHNIC GROUPS WITHIN THE BROAD AND DIVERSE CANADIAN MUSLIM COMMUNITY. __________________________________________________________________________ CMLI's President Omar Siddiqui and Vice-President Mariam Omar have stated on November 9, 2009: "we are very pleased to announce the launching of CMLI's first annual leadership development program for the Canadian Muslim community. We believe that Canadian Muslims of all cultural and ethnic communities who have aspired to be engaged in personal leadership development, will now have a chance to be successful and be acknowledged for their dedication, courage and compassion. Now, we believe that our community leadership potential is great, and the opportunity to strengthen our community leadership role in Canadian society is assured. " ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The Canadian Muslim community has recognized, that as it continues to grow as a diverse multicultural and multi-ethnic community in every corner of Canada, there is a critical need to build and sustain current and future community institutions; thereby creating a robust community contributing to Canadian society. CMLI believes that in order to achieve this there is a pressing need for informed and active Canadian Muslims of all ages and experiences to continue to develop the capacity of Muslim communities, and the Canadian community in partnership with other cultural communities; resulting in sustained and robust inter-community partnerships within the larger Canadian community.
