CMLI's President Omar Siddiqui and Vice-President Mariam Omar have stated on November 9, 2009:

We believe that Canadian Muslims of all cultural and ethnic communities who have aspired to be engaged in leadership development, will now have a chance to be successful and be acknowledged for their dedication, courage and compassion. 

Now, we believe that our community leadership potential is great, and the opportunity to strengthen our community leadership role in Canadian society is assured. "

The Canadian Muslim Leadership Institute Inc. has announced its first annual community leadership development program to the diverse Muslim cultural and community groups. 

CMLI's program model has been in development for the past few years, after consultation with the community in Winnipeg,  and discussions with key informants in Ontario, British Columbia and Alberta.

Specifically, the Islamic Social Services Association Inc. (ISSA) took the lead, as the host community organization, to assemble a range of key informants from many of the Manitoba cultural communities to discuss and validate the need for a community leadership development activity. Since then, ISSA has assisted in incubating this new organization and supporting the development of the first program.
